Answers to common questions about therapy and our services

About Our Therapy Approaches

I provide therapy for individuals, couples, families, children, and teens. My work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Humanistic approaches. I tailor each session to meet your unique needs—with curiosity, compassion, and care.

Whether you're feeling anxious, grieving, overwhelmed, or just want space to think clearly—therapy is for you. We'll work together to untangle what's weighing on you, build emotional tools, and reconnect you to what matters most. You don't have to be "in crisis" to benefit. Healing, insight, and growth are for everyone.

Couples therapy is about more than solving problems—it's about strengthening your bond. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, I help couples identify painful cycles, build emotional safety, and grow deeper connection through vulnerability and honest communication.

Families are powerful places for healing—but sometimes they need a little support. I work with families to improve communication, reduce conflict, and deepen understanding, especially during the adolescent years. I work with the entire system to build more connected, compassionate homes.

Play therapy is a specialized approach for working with children ages 3-12. Children naturally express themselves through play, and in the therapy room, toys become their words and play becomes their language. Through carefully facilitated play experiences, children can process difficult emotions, develop problem-solving skills, and build resilience.

As a trained play therapist, I create a safe space where children can explore their inner world at their own pace. Parents are essential partners in this process, and I work closely with caregivers to support positive changes at home.

Getting Started

That's completely normal. Therapy works best when there's a good fit between you and your therapist. That's why I offer a free 30-minute consultation—a no-pressure chance to ask questions and see how it feels. If I'm not the right person, I'll help connect you to someone who is. You don't have to figure it all out alone.

I work with:

  • Children (2+)
  • Adolescents and teens
  • Adults
  • Couples
  • Families

Whether you're a student, parent, working professional, artist, or somewhere in between, therapy can help you feel more connected, more grounded, and more like yourself.

I see clients in Lafayette, Colorado and offer both in-person and virtual sessions.

Just reach out to schedule a free consultation. We'll talk about what you're hoping for, answer any questions, and make sure it feels like a good fit.

Practical Questions

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. For couples and families, we sometimes recommend 80-minute sessions, especially at the beginning of therapy or when working through more complex issues.

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Many clients use their out-of-network benefits, HSA, or FSA funds for therapy services.

Most clients start with weekly sessions, especially in the beginning stages of therapy. As you progress toward your goals, we might transition to meeting every other week. We'll collaborate on finding a frequency that supports your needs and circumstances.

Confidentiality is fundamental to the therapeutic relationship. What you share in therapy remains private, with few exceptions mandated by law. These exceptions include situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others, or suspicion of child or elder abuse. I'll explain these limitations in detail during our first session.
